In 1987 taking on the role as General Manager of the Best Western Airport Inn in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as the innkeeper, and an innovator the property was one of the first to purchase and install a PC-based point-of-sale & property management system in the country. We managed to find a second use for the property by negotiating a contract with the Chancellor of Southern University to operate the property as an extension to fix the housing shortage. The property had a footprint to serve both the public and travel industry and housing with room & board for up to 300 working learners each semester.
I had the pleasure of meeting the founder of Ultimate Real-Estate Network System T.U.R.N.S., from Canyon Lake, California. We developed a software subscription model to work in conjunction with the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) to provide the service offerings to the members of the National Association of Realtors. This would later set a path into technology solution sales, marketing and consulting full-time.
In 2004 thru 2011, I would develop a career around software with Radiant Systems (acquired by NCR for $1.2 BB). Selling and supporting professional solutions for small and medium sized businesses to include major accounts with national chains as a Sr. Manager taking part in automating the Hospitality and Retail Industry.
